As this year comes to a close, I’ve learned something that feels both simple and life-changing: slow down.
In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, become more, and move faster, slowing down can sometimes feel uncomfortable. But it’s in the slowing down time that clarity comes. It’s where gratitude grows. It’s where we finally notice how far we’ve come in our lives.
This year didn’t move the way I expected. Some days were heavy. Some prayers took longer than I wanted. Some dreams felt delayed. But when I pause and look back, I realize something powerful: I didn’t quit. I didn’t give up. And by the grace of God, I’m still standing.
Celebrating the Small Wins
Not every victory came with applause. Some wins felt like waking up on days I wanted to stay in bed. Some looked like choosing peace over panic. Some looked like trusting God when I didn’t have all the answers.
And those moments matter.
We often wait to celebrate the “big” breakthroughs while overlooking the quiet strength it took to survive the process. But growth happens in the unseen. Healing happens slowly. Faith deepens one step at a time.
If you’re reading this and feeling like the year passed you by, let me remind you that progress doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it whispers, “You made it.”
Gratitude Changes Everything
Gratitude has been my anchor. Not because everything went right, but because God remained faithful even when things went wrong.
I’m grateful for lessons learned.
Grateful for doors that closed and protected me.
Grateful for the moments that stretched my faith.
Grateful for how God carried me when I was tired.
When we choose gratitude, we shift our focus from what we lack to what God has already done. And suddenly, peace replaces pressure.
Honoring the Journey
Where you are today is proof of God’s hand on your life. You may not be where you want to be, but you are not where you used to be.
Honor the journey.
Honor the growth.
Honor the version of you that kept going.
As this year ends, I’m choosing not to rush into the next one with anxiety or unrealistic expectations. I’m entering with faith, reflection, and thanksgiving—trusting that the same God who brought me this far will lead me forward.
So take a moment.
Breathe.
Celebrate every little victory.
And be grateful for how far you’ve come. Because this year didn’t break you—it built you.
